WHO WE ARE – The Vision…
We envision a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry that builds with people in need regardless of race or religion. We are driven by the vision that every one of us deserves a stable and affordable place to call home. We welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds to help us build strength, stability and independence for families. There are over 1,200 Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the U.S. as well as in over 70 foreign countries. Each Habitat affiliate is an independent nonprofit organization, operating in partnership with Habitat International in Atlanta Georgia. Habitat affiliates work locally in communities around the world, and here in Cape May County, to select and support homeowners, to organize volunteers, to coordinate house building and repair, and to raise donations of cash, goods and services.
WHAT WE DO – The Mission…
Seeking to put God’s love into action, we bring people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Through the Habitat model, families partner with us to build and purchase their own home with an affordable mortgage. Habitat uses donations, volunteer labor, and donated materials to reduce the costs of building and then sells the home to a pre-selected family at no-profit.
We bring communities together to help us build homes and hope for local families on the path to homeownership. When hard-working families are supported by a proven program, determined volunteers and generous donors, a future full of opportunity is built.
How Habitat works
Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations will not proselytize. Nor will Habitat for Humanity work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with Habitat. This means that Habitat for Humanity will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
